Well, I'm sorry this review was so late but I've been swamped...*shrugs* Anyway, not like you care about any of that, so on with the review.
This episode starts with our characters stepping out of the stargate onto a dessert world. It's piping hot and there is sand as far as the eye can see. Now, unlike the last two reviews, I'm not going to give quiet as detailed a discription because I realise now, I'm giving the story away for those who want to watch the series and are just looking to see if there are any good reviews on it out there.
So, basically the reason for this trip is to find some calcium/carbonate substance which they can use to flush out the filter system and get it to work again. After Eli pis...that is, annoys everyone for far too long, Lieutenant Scott splits the group up and they go their seprate ways.
Later on in the episode we see Colonel Young and Chloe Armstrong use the communiation stones to speak to General O'Neill and Mrs. Armstrong. Chloe needs to explain her fathers death and in grief and fear of the loss of her daughter too; Mrs. Armstrong threathns to expose the whole Stargate program if her daugher doesn't make it back.
Colonel Young then, tries to arrange for everyone on the ship to say their 'last goodbyes', also. He's obviously not confadent in the survival of the ship or its passangers.
Back on the dessart planet, the scientists in Eli's group are groaning about the lack of survival on the ship. They decide to try one of the other planets that the ship suggested, not believing the Dr. Rush eliminated them for a reason. Eli is left trying to stop them.
While this struggle was on going, Lieutenant Scott told Seargent Greer to go back with Dr. Rush who had given up. Lieutenant Scott procedied to continue on through the dessart on his own. While there he starts to hallucinate and remembers a priest. There is a flashback to a church and Scott asks for forgiveness. From what I'm not sure. We later find out just how difficult a childhood Scott had. His parents died when he was four and then the priest who practicle raised him, pritty much drank himself to death when Scott was 16. Troubling indeed.
When Scott passes out the strange wind which followed them evrywhere, picking up any liquid as it went, passed over Scott and water bubbled up. Scott woke up and tested the sand and found that the sand tested positive for the mineral they were searching for. He took a large bagfull of it and set off back to the Stargate. When he was nearly there he colapsed once again. Seargent Greer who decided to go back for Scott finds him and makes him walk back.
There is a counter as we know on the ship saying they can only be on the planet 12 hours before they go back to FTL. However, Dr. Rush, who has already returned at this point, convences Eli to stick his arm into the open wormhole. Eli is obviously terrified. As we know, if the wormhole shut down, he'd lose the arm. Dr. Rush was adamint however, than there must have been a safety protocal installed so that is anyone was traveling inside the wormhole at the last minuet wouldn't be left behind. Dr. Rush was right and after the counter had ended the wormhole was still there. Eli, Lieutenant Scott and Seagent Greer all tumble through the Stargate into the ship.
Well, my thoughs on this episode were so, so. I mean it wasn't an amazing episode to watch however I did like the extra information we were given about Lieutenant Scott. It seems that as each episoded is aired we learn a little more about our characters private lives.
I'm looking foward to the next episode though, as on the ship they got the filters/scrubbers sorted out and working again so it'll be intresting to see what torture they put them through next.
